Brandon Moreno and Charles Johnson will meet in a flyweight bout at UFC 335 on December 12 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, per MMA Fighting.

Moreno, ranked ninth at 125 pounds, announced the fight on his Instagram page, writing that he is coming in with a clear goal "to continue proving that he belongs in the conversation" at the top of the division. The former two-time UFC flyweight champion snapped a two-fight losing streak with a decision win over Joseph Morales at UFC Noche, his first victory since March 2025.

Johnson, ranked fourteenth, has been one of the more exciting fighters in the flyweight division over the past year. He holds a knockout win over current champion Joshua Van and most recently submitted Eduardo Henrique with a twister at UFC 330. Between those wins, he dropped a TKO loss to Alex Perez, who had missed weight, and a decision to Asu Almabayev in Baku.

The flyweight title picture is crowded at the top, with Manel Kape likely next in line for a shot at Van. A statement win for either Moreno or Johnson could put them one fight away from a title opportunity.

UFC 335 is the promotion's final pay-per-view of 2026. The card is also expected to feature Alex Pereira vs Sergei Pavlovich at heavyweight.

This is a fun fight, but it is a must-win for Moreno. The guy is 35, coming off two losses before the Morales fight, and the division has moved on without him. Johnson is dangerous, he knocked out the current champion, and he finishes people in creative ways. That twister on Henrique was something else.

If I am being honest, I think Moreno is the better all-around fighter, but the version of Moreno we have seen lately is not the same guy who went to war with Deiveson Figueiredo three times. Johnson has the speed and the finishing instinct to catch him.

This is Moreno's last real shot at staying relevant at 125. A loss here, especially on a UFC 335 card in Vegas, and the conversation shifts to retirement. I think he knows it, too. That Instagram post had the energy of a man who understands the stakes.
