Brendan Allen Tells Dricus du Plessis to Stop Ducking Him After UFC Vegas 122
Brendan Allen says Dricus du Plessis took the easier fight and needs to sign the contract.

Brendan Allen has had enough of fighting prospects. The No. 4 ranked UFC middleweight submitted Christian Leroy Duncan in the main event of UFC Vegas 122 on Saturday night at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, becoming the first man to stop Duncan inside the distance. It was Allen's fourth straight win, and his second consecutive bout against a much lower-ranked opponent.
Allen wasted no time calling out former middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis. Asked if he would fight DDP next, Allen kept it blunt: "Yeah, if he drops his nuts." He added that du Plessis is the only opponent that makes sense for him and that the two have had differences and were supposed to fight before.
Allen also took aim at du Plessis for choosing to face Kamaru Usman instead of him. "He was the easier fight compared to me. There is no questioning that," Allen said, per MMA Mania. He acknowledged Usman's resume as one of the best welterweights ever but said that era has passed. Allen described himself as younger, hungrier, bigger, faster, and stronger.
Despite the callout, Allen made clear he will not chase the fight forever. "I'm not going to chase that motherf--ker. If he wants to fight, fight. If not, we'll figure something else out," he said. He also drew a line in the sand on matchmaking, saying he will not accept another opponent ranked six spots below him.
The matchup makes sense on paper. Both men carry legitimate bad blood, and Allen has proven he belongs at the top of the division. Whether the UFC books it remains to be seen.
I've been saying it for months: Brendan Allen is the most dangerous middleweight nobody wants to talk about. Four straight wins, three of them against guys the UFC hand-picked to derail him, and he keeps making it look easy. Submitting Duncan in the fifth after dealing with a staph infection? That is championship composure.
The du Plessis callout is dead on. DDP chose Usman over Allen, and I do not care how you dress it up, that was the safer pick. Usman is a legend, but he was coming off losses and fighting at a heavier weight than his prime. Allen is in his prime right now. If du Plessis is serious about reclaiming the title, he should want to go through the hardest fights available. Allen is exactly that.
Book it. Stop giving Allen prospects to beat up and let him prove what most of us already know.
