Irish police are seeking to interview Conor McGregor as part of a criminal investigation into alleged perjury connected to his unsuccessful civil appeal in the Nikita Hand case, per LowKick MMA.

The probe centers on whether affidavit evidence submitted during McGregor's appeal contained knowingly false statements. A jury found in 2024 that McGregor assaulted Hand at a Dublin hotel in December 2018. His appeal of that verdict failed, and detectives are now examining the sworn documents filed during the process.

A mobile phone belonging to one of McGregor's associates was seized by detectives. Two people connected to the case, Samantha O'Reilly and Steven Cummins, have already been charged with making false statements in judicial proceedings. O'Reilly faces two counts; Cummins faces one. The false statements were allegedly made on January 14 and May 6, 2025.

Detectives first contacted McGregor in September 2025 and made another attempt in June 2026. His solicitor says McGregor remains willing to cooperate remotely or in person once medically cleared to travel from California, where he currently resides.

No charges have been filed against McGregor himself. The investigation remains ongoing.

REY'S TAKERey Aguirre

This is one of those stories where the headline sounds worse than the current reality, but the trajectory is ugly. McGregor hasn't been charged with anything. He's being asked to sit for an interview. But two people in his orbit have already caught perjury charges over sworn statements tied to his appeal, and now detectives are seizing phones. That's not a fishing expedition. That's a case building momentum.

The fact that cops have been trying to get McGregor in a room since September 2025 and he's still dodging it from California tells you everything about how seriously his team is taking this. "Medically cleared to travel" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. Conor can fly to Dublin tomorrow if he wants to.

McGregor's legal problems have been a slow avalanche since the Hand verdict. Every few months there's a new layer. At this point the fighting career is a memory. The courtroom is the only arena left.
