Damian Pinas continues to make the middleweight division look easy. The 24-year-old from Suriname knocked out Andrey Pulyaev with a perfectly placed uppercut at 1:15 of the first round at UFC 332 on Saturday night, per LowKick MMA.

The finish was clinical. Pulyaev used his reach early, landing a body kick and finding range with his jab. But Pinas walked through everything, attacked the legs, and then uncorked a right hand, left hand, and uppercut combination that dropped Pulyaev face-first to the canvas. The referee had seen enough.

Pinas even declined a stoppage after Pulyaev landed a low blow early in the round. Instead of taking a breather, Pinas waved it off and went right back to work. That tells you everything about the kind of fighter he is.

It was the third consecutive first-round knockout for Pinas in the UFC, extending his promotional record to 3-0 and his overall mark to 11-1. Every single one of his UFC victories has ended the same way: opponent unconscious, first round.

Pinas earned his UFC contract through Dana White's Contender Series in September 2025, knocking out Vitor Costa in the first round. Since then, the pattern has not changed. He goes out, he hurts people, and he goes home early. The nickname "The Baba Yaga" fits.

Pulyaev falls to 1-4 in the UFC with three consecutive losses. The Russian middleweight simply could not deal with the speed and power difference once Pinas closed distance.

At 24, Pinas is one of the youngest and most dangerous finishers in the middleweight division. The UFC has a potential star on its hands if they keep matching him up wisely. Three first-round knockouts in three UFC fights is the kind of track record that gets you on main cards and earns you a number next to your name.

Three fights, three first-round knockouts. Not decisions, not late stoppages. Three guys put to sleep before the second round even starts. At 24 years old.

I do not think people are paying enough attention to Damian Pinas yet, but that is going to change fast. The middleweight division is packed right now, with guys like Dricus Du Plessis, Sean Strickland, and Robert Whittaker clogging up the top of the rankings. But Pinas has the kind of finishing power that cuts through a crowded division in a hurry.

That uppercut on Pulyaev was a thing of beauty. He set it up with the right hand, disguised it with the left, and the uppercut came from a place Pulyaev never saw. Clean, devastating, fight over. That is not just power. That is timing and technique from a guy who fights like he has been doing this for 15 years, not three UFC fights. The UFC needs to keep feeding him gradually. Give him a step-up fight against someone ranked 12 to 15 and let him prove the hype is real. My gut says it is.
