Daniel Dubois wants to be back in the ring by February, and promoter Frank Warren is already floating a heavyweight unification fight against Agit Kabayel as the next step.

"He'll fight in February, we are going to see what happens," Warren told Boxing News 24. Warren is monitoring Kabayel's upcoming November 28 defense against Nelson Hysa in Germany before making any commitments. "Let's see the outcome because that would be a fantastic unification scrap," Warren said.

Dubois retained his WBO heavyweight title in dominant fashion last week, demolishing Fabio Wardley in just two rounds at London's O2 Arena. The stoppage was so emphatic that the conversation immediately turned to bigger fights. Filip Hrgovic, the IBF champion who lost to Dubois previously, was ringside and has called for a rematch, but Warren appears more interested in the Kabayel matchup.

The timeline is tight. If Kabayel fights on November 28 and Dubois wants a February date, that leaves roughly two months for the German champion to recover and prepare. If Hysa pushes Kabayel hard or the fight goes deep, the turnaround could be an issue.

Kabayel is known for his body-focused pressure style, which would present a different challenge than the opponents Dubois has been blasting out recently. Warren reportedly noted that roughly 43,000 to 44,000 tickets were sold for the Kabayel vs. Hysa event, suggesting a strong fan base in Germany that could factor into the negotiations.

Dubois has been on a tear since reclaiming the WBO belt, and a unification fight would be the logical next move for a heavyweight division that is slowly consolidating its titles.

REY'S TAKERey Aguirre

Dubois looked like a monster against Wardley, and I get why Warren wants to keep the momentum rolling. Kabayel is a solid fight. He's tough, he comes forward, and a unification angle gives it the kind of stakes that sell pay per views.

But the timing worries me. Two months between Kabayel's November fight and a February date is not a lot, especially if Hysa makes it competitive. You don't want to book a unification fight where one guy had a short camp because you were in a hurry.

Hrgovic sitting ringside calling for a rematch is the other option, but Warren clearly sees more money in the Kabayel route. Smart business. The German market is massive, and Dubois collecting belts is a better story than running back a fight he already won.
