EA Sports Revives Fight Night Boxing Game After 15-Year Absence
EA Sports announced the return of its beloved Fight Night franchise, ending a 15-year drought since Fight Night Champion.

The gloves are going back on, digitally speaking. EA Sports announced on Monday that it is reviving the Fight Night boxing video game franchise, ending a 15-year drought since the last mainline entry in the series.
"To everyone who stayed in our corner: Fight Night is coming back," EA posted on social media alongside an image of boxing gloves hanging over a ring.
The last game in the franchise, Fight Night Champion, was released in 2011 and featured modern and historic fighters, a career mode, and the ability to create custom boxers. It remains one of the most beloved sports games ever made.
EA CEO Andrew Wilson previously explained the series went dormant in the early 2010s after most of the development team was moved to work on the UFC video game series, per Shacknews. The UFC franchise has continued with regular releases while Fight Night fans waited more than a decade for any sign of life.
The announcement follows a playbook similar to EA's revival of college football. EA Sports College Football 25 was announced roughly three years before its eventual release, suggesting a new Fight Night title could still be a long way from store shelves. No platforms, release date, or roster details have been announced.
The timing is notable. Boxing has seen a resurgence in mainstream interest over the past two years, with Saudi-backed superfights, the rise of Turki Alalshikh's Riyadh Season cards, and crossover events drawing massive audiences. A revived Fight Night franchise could capitalize on that momentum in a way the sport hasn't seen since the Pacquiao-Mayweather era.
I have been waiting for this since 2011. Fight Night Champion was the last great boxing game, and nothing has come close since. Every year somebody would ask, and every year EA had nothing to say. Now they finally said it.
Don't get too excited yet. If the College Football timeline is any indication, we might not see this game until 2029 or later. But the fact that EA is even acknowledging Fight Night exists again is a win for boxing fans and gamers.
The timing makes sense too. Boxing is bigger right now than it has been in years. Riyadh Season changed the economics, superfights are actually happening, and the sport has a casual audience again. If EA builds a game worthy of the Fight Night name, it could be massive.
