Dana White says the December 11 fight is scaled for around $34 million, which would set a British boxing record.

The Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua mega-fight is projected to generate a $34 million gate at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on December 11, putting it on course for a British boxing record.

Dana White told Sky Sports the fight is "scaled for around $34 million," though final receipts will determine whether the record becomes official.

The numbers back up the hype. Fewer than 700 tickets remained by Friday evening after more than 500,000 people joined the Ticketmaster queue when tickets went on sale. The 80,000-seat stadium effectively sold out in under an hour.

Ticket prices range from 88.50 pounds to over 13,000 pounds for premium seating, not including VIP packages, hotel bundles and travel deals. That high-end pricing is a major driver of the projected gate figure.

The event is shaping up to be one of the biggest boxing cards in years. The undercard already features Deontay Wilder vs Jai Opetaia at heavyweight, with more additions expected in the coming weeks.

Fury and Joshua have circled each other for the better part of a decade, with negotiations falling apart multiple times. Now the fight is finally happening, and the public response has been overwhelming. A $34 million gate would rank among the largest in boxing history for an event outside of Las Vegas or the Middle East.

REY'S TAKERey Aguirre

This is what happens when you stop overthinking it and just make the fight. Fury and Joshua wasted years going back and forth while the public begged for it. Now they finally signed and 80,000 tickets evaporated in an hour. A $34 million gate in Wales. Not Vegas, not Riyadh. Wales.

That tells you everything about how badly people wanted this. The demand was always there. The only thing standing in the way was the egos and the business side. Now the money is confirming what we all knew: this is the biggest fight you can make in British boxing, maybe in all of boxing right now.

I am curious to see the final number. With VIP packages and walk-up sales, $34 million might end up being the floor, not the ceiling.
