Highest Paid Boxers of All Time: Top 10 Career Earners Ranked
Floyd Mayweather tops the list at an estimated $1.57 billion in career earnings, ahead of Mike Tyson and Canelo Alvarez, with every big purse and PPV record sourced.

Floyd Mayweather is the highest paid boxer of all time. Sportico's inflation-adjusted career earnings list, updated in 2026, puts him at about $1.57 billion, the only fighter with a ten-figure ring career. Mike Tyson (about $1 billion) and Canelo Alvarez (about $870 million) complete the top three. Every total here is an estimate that combines purses, pay-per-view shares and endorsements before taxes.
A note on the numbers before we start. Sportico's all-time list is the only dataset that treats every era the same way, and it covers seven boxers. Those seven make up spots 1 through 7 below. The last three, Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Lennox Lewis, rest on weaker third-party estimates, and you should read them that way. Where a purse was actually disclosed by a commission, I say so. Everything else is a report or a fighter's own claim.
- Highest earner
- Floyd Mayweather, about $1.57B (Sportico est.)
- Biggest disclosed purse
- $100M, Mayweather vs McGregor, 2017 (NSAC)

- Billion-dollar careers
- 2 (Mayweather, Tyson, inflation-adjusted)
10Lennox Lewis

Lennox Lewis is the shakiest entry on this list, and I want to be honest about that. A career figure of $265 million or more is attributed to The Sun, and Celebrity Net Worth pegs his net worth at $140 million with roughly $50 million coming from one night.
That one night was June 8, 2002 in Memphis. Lewis knocked out Mike Tyson in the eighth round. Both men had a disclosed guarantee of $17.5 million, and the fight sold 1.95 million pay-per-views for $106.9 million in PPV revenue, a record at the time. Lewis also banked a reported $15 million for the Evander Holyfield rematch in 1999. Lewis retired in February 2004 at 41-2-1.
09Tyson Fury

Nobody has a clean career total for Tyson Fury, which is why he sits at 9 rather than higher. Front Office Sports listed him at $150 million in December 2024, but Sportico put his 2024 earnings alone at $147 million, the most of any boxer that year. The real number is higher, but nobody has documented it.
His biggest paydays came against Oleksandr Usyk in Riyadh. The first fight on May 18, 2024, which Fury lost, was reported at around $103 million for Fury under a 70-30 split. The rematch on December 21, 2024, a unanimous decision loss, was reported at about £67.3 million.
Fury retired in December 2024, then came back in January 2026. He beat Arslanbek Makhmudov in April and stopped Mariusz Wach in seven rounds in July 2026 to move to 36-2-1. The Anthony Joshua fight is signed, with Cardiff in December 2026 reported as the frontrunner.
08Anthony Joshua

Front Office Sports estimated Anthony Joshua's career earnings at $250 million or more in December 2024, citing Forbes, The Sun and Marca. Sportico had him at $60 million for 2024 alone. Those numbers predate his biggest single check.
Joshua's reported purses read like a Saudi ledger. The 2022 Usyk rematch was reported at $75 million. Francis Ngannou on March 8, 2024 in Riyadh was reported at $50 million by Sports Business Journal. Then came Jake Paul on December 20, 2025 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, a sixth-round knockout win, with both men reported at about £70 million each from a reported $184 million total purse. None of that was commission-disclosed.
He got up from two first-round knockdowns to stop Kristian Prenga in Riyadh on July 25, 2026, moving to 30-4, and the Fury fight is signed.
07Evander Holyfield

Sportico ranks Evander Holyfield 42nd among all athletes ever with $675 million inflation-adjusted, $320 million in actual dollars.
His biggest purse was $35 million for the Tyson rematch on June 28, 1997 in Las Vegas, the fight that ended in a third-round disqualification when Tyson bit his ear. That event generated a reported $180 million in total revenue. Six years earlier, on April 19, 1991, Holyfield made $20 million to outpoint George Foreman. His last bout was a first-round stoppage loss to Vitor Belfort on a Triller card on September 11, 2021.
06Oscar De La Hoya

Oscar De La Hoya earned $720 million inflation-adjusted per Sportico ($415 million unadjusted), and Forbes had him at $510 million on its 2016 all-time list.
That handoff happened on May 5, 2007 at the MGM Grand. De La Hoya lost a split decision to Mayweather but took home $52 million including his promoter's share, against $25 million for Floyd. The fight sold 2.4 million pay-per-views, a record at the time, with a gate over $19 million and about $136 million in PPV revenue.
The Golden Boy promotional company kept him rich after retirement, and in November 2024 he sold The Ring magazine to Turki Alalshikh, calling it an offer he could not refuse.
05George Foreman

George Foreman sits 29th on Sportico's all-time list at $740 million adjusted, $360 million unadjusted. Sportico's methodology counts endorsements, and the George Foreman Grill was one of the great athlete licensing deals in history.
His biggest documented ring payday was $12.5 million for the Holyfield fight on April 19, 1991, a unanimous decision loss that drew 1.45 million pay-per-view buys and about $55 million in PPV revenue. He was deep into his comeback, and the fact that people paid to watch him try was the whole business model. Foreman died on March 21, 2025 at 76.
04Manny Pacquiao

Sportico has Manny Pacquiao at $815 million inflation-adjusted, $595 million in real dollars, 24th among all athletes. One fight paid more than most careers.
That was Mayweather on May 2, 2015, a unanimous decision loss. ESPN reported Pacquiao's cut at a little north of $150 million under the agreed 60-40 split of a fight that grossed about $600 million. Other outlets have reported $130 million. Nobody ever disclosed the final numbers.
Pacquiao came back in July 2025 and fought Mario Barrios to a majority draw, leaving him 62-8-3. A Mayweather rematch was announced in February 2026 for September 19 at the Sphere on Netflix, then postponed indefinitely in June amid lawsuits and a dispute over advance payments.
03Canelo Alvarez

Canelo Alvarez is the highest paid active boxer and the only one on this list still climbing fast. Sportico puts his career at $870 million adjusted, $760 million unadjusted, 22nd among all athletes. He is adding nine figures a year.
The Terence Crawford fight on September 13, 2025 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, a unanimous decision loss, was the biggest payday of his life. Turki Alalshikh and Canelo both said the purse was well over $100 million at the press conference, and Forbes' 2026 athlete list credited him with about $160 million from that fight on a $170 million year, second among all athletes. The fight drew 70,482 fans, a gate over $47 million and 41.4 million global viewers on Netflix.
For context on what a disclosed purse looks like, the Nevada commission listed Canelo at $35 million for the Kovalev fight on November 2, 2019. His next fight is Christian Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title on October 31, 2026 in Riyadh. Record: 63-3-2.
02Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson is the second boxer to clear a billion dollars in inflation-adjusted earnings. Sportico has him at $1 billion adjusted, $495 million unadjusted, 20th all-time. He also famously burned through most of it, then earned a second fortune late in life, including one very strange Netflix night.
His biggest guaranteed purse was $30 million for the Holyfield rematch on June 28, 1997, the fight he lost by disqualification in round three. The Lennox Lewis fight on June 8, 2002, an eighth-round knockout loss, carried a disclosed $17.5 million guarantee and sold 1.95 million pay-per-views.
Then came Jake Paul on November 15, 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, a unanimous decision loss at age 58. The promoters never disclosed purses. DraftKings estimated Tyson at about $20 million on a night that drew a $17.8 million gate and 65 million concurrent Netflix viewers. A Mayweather exhibition was signed for spring 2026 and pushed to the fall after Tyson broke his hand.
01Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Floyd Mayweather is the richest boxer who ever lived and it is not close. Sportico's 2026 figure is $1.57 billion inflation-adjusted, 10th among all athletes in any sport. Forbes named him the highest paid athlete of the 2010s with $915 million earned in that decade alone.
His single biggest disclosed purse is the biggest in boxing history: $100 million, listed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for the Conor McGregor fight on August 26, 2017, a tenth-round stoppage win. Forbes estimated his total take from that night at $275 million once the pay-per-view share came in. The fight sold 4.3 million buys for about $550 million.
The Pacquiao fight on May 2, 2015, a unanimous decision win, was bigger still. ESPN reported Mayweather's total at $220 million to $230 million from a fight that did a record 4.6 million pay-per-view buys, a $72.2 million gate and roughly $600 million in gross revenue.
Mayweather has not fought a real fight since 2017, and he does not need to. The Pacquiao rematch planned for September 2026 was postponed, the Tyson exhibition is slated for the fall, and the exhibitions keep paying. Still the best business in boxing.
I have watched Mayweather sell exhibitions from a few miles away for years, and the thing people miss is that his money came from control, not knockouts. He owned his promotion, picked his dates and took the lion's share of every pot. Canelo is the only active fighter running the same play, and he will pass Tyson for second within two years if Riyadh keeps writing checks. The heavyweights are the wild card. Fury and Joshua have been paid like legends for a decade on estimates nobody can verify, and the December fight between them will be the last true nine-figure night either man sees. Pay attention to who takes the bigger split. That tells you who the market thinks is the star, no matter what the odds say.
QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK.
Who is the highest paid boxer of all time?
Floyd Mayweather Jr. Sportico's inflation-adjusted career earnings list, updated in 2026, puts him at about $1.57 billion, 10th among athletes in any sport. Forbes separately named him the highest paid athlete of the 2010s with $915 million. His two biggest nights, Pacquiao in 2015 and McGregor in 2017, produced a reported $500 million between them.
What is the biggest purse in boxing history?
The biggest officially disclosed purse is Mayweather's $100 million guarantee for Conor McGregor in August 2017, listed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. His total from that fight was estimated by Forbes at $275 million. His Pacquiao payday was reported by ESPN at $220 million to $230 million, but that figure was never disclosed by a commission, so it counts as a report rather than a record.
How much did Canelo make for the Crawford fight?
Canelo and Turki Alalshikh both said at the press conference that his purse was well over $100 million for the September 13, 2025 fight at Allegiant Stadium. Forbes' 2026 athlete list credited him with about $160 million from that one fight. Nevada no longer publishes purses, so there is no official figure. Crawford said on his own podcast that he made about $10 million.
Is Jake Paul one of the highest paid boxers ever?
Not yet on a career basis, though he is closing fast. Forbes' 2026 list of the highest paid athletes included only two fighters, Paul and Canelo. His Anthony Joshua fight in December 2025 was reported at about £70 million for each man from a $184 million total purse, which would be the biggest single payday on this list outside Mayweather, Canelo and the Fury-Usyk fights.
Are these career earnings before or after taxes?
Before. Sportico and Forbes count gross purses, pay-per-view shares and endorsements. A fighter's actual take is much smaller once you subtract the trainer, manager, promoter share and taxes, which together can eat half of a purse. Mike Tyson is the clearest example of how fast a fortune can go: about $495 million in unadjusted earnings, and most of it gone before the comeback.
