Mikey Musumeci Dominates Bryce Mitchell in UFC BJJ 11 Crossover Main Event
Mikey Musumeci outworked Bryce Mitchell over three rounds at UFC BJJ 11, winning by unanimous decision in the crossover grappling spectacle.

Mikey Musumeci did exactly what grappling fans expected at UFC BJJ 11. The reigning UFC BJJ bantamweight champion beat UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell by unanimous decision in the main event at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Thursday night.
The 15-minute match went the distance, with Musumeci threatening multiple submissions across three rounds. He locked up a D'Arce choke and a guillotine attempt in the opening round, but Mitchell defended both. In the final round, Musumeci took Mitchell's back, locked in a body triangle, and cycled between rear-naked choke and armbar attempts without getting the finish.
The most dramatic moment came from Mitchell. The Arkansas featherweight, who had Sean Strickland in his corner, launched a violent power slam in the third round that drew a warning from referee Vitor Ribeiro. Mitchell survived, but never threatened offensively on the mat.
The match had a pre-fight agreement banning leg locks, one of Musumeci's signature weapons. That created an early flash of tension when Musumeci briefly attacked Mitchell's leg, drawing boos from the crowd before releasing the hold. He later used leg entanglements to improve position rather than hunt submissions.
After the win, Musumeci made his intentions clear. "It was fun. I'm training MMA now, so I like that," Musumeci told reporters, per LowKick MMA. "I want more MMA grappling opponents." He trains at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas and has been open about his eventual transition to mixed martial arts.
This was fun for what it was, but let's not pretend it was competitive. Musumeci is one of the best grapplers on the planet, and Mitchell is a tough UFC fighter who happens to be good on the mat. There's a canyon between those two things. The slam was the highlight of Mitchell's night, and it drew a warning. That tells you everything.
I do love that Musumeci wants more MMA guys. That's the lane UFC BJJ should stay in: crossover spectacles that bring eyeballs, not pure grappling matches that only the jiu-jitsu diehards watch. Strickland in Mitchell's corner was a nice touch too. Give me Musumeci vs. a wrestler next. Bo Nickal sitting right there if he wants a real puzzle.
