Raoni Barcelos is home with his family. The 39-year-old UFC bantamweight was discharged from a Las Vegas trauma center on Tuesday night, three days after a frightening finish to his main event against Raul Rosas Jr. at UFC Vegas 121.

Barcelose was winning the fight on all three scorecards when Rosas Jr. finished him in the fifth round. The stoppage was severe enough that Barcelos was carried out on a stretcher and transported directly to a trauma center. The exact nature of his injuries has not been disclosed.

"Discharged from medical care and with my family!" Barcelos wrote on Instagram.

Dana White was blunt when asked about a potential return. "Not even thinking about that. Who gives a s---? As long as the kid is OK," White told reporters, per MMA News. He added that Barcelos is "up walking around, talking" and emphasized the UFC had six doctors and three ambulances on site that night.

UFC commentator Paul Felder publicly encouraged Barcelos to retire after the fight, suggesting the UFC should compensate him to make walking away easier. At 39 with a record of 22-6, Barcelos has had a solid career, but the frightening scene on Saturday raised serious questions about whether he should continue.

The UFC has not commented on any timeline for Barcelos to be cleared to compete.

The only thing that matters here is that Barcelos is OK. When you see a fighter get carried out on a stretcher, the last thing anyone should be talking about is his next fight. Credit to Dana White for saying exactly that.

I do think Paul Felder had a point, though. Barcelos is 39. He was winning the fight and then everything went sideways in the worst possible way. At some point the conversation about retirement has to happen, and having the UFC take care of a veteran who gave the company everything is the right thing to do.

Barcelose has nothing left to prove. He has been in there with killers for years. If this is the end, it should be treated with the respect the man deserves.
