Devin Haney Reignites Shakur Stevenson Fight Talk With Instagram Promo
Haney posted footage of himself facing off with Stevenson, putting the stalled welterweight showdown back in the conversation.

Devin Haney wants the boxing world to know he has not forgotten about Shakur Stevenson. The WBO welterweight champion posted an Instagram promo featuring footage of himself facing off with Stevenson, putting one of boxing's most anticipated matchups back into public conversation, per Boxing News 24.
Stevenson responded on X with a string of devil emojis and a simple message: "LETS GO!!!!" The mutual interest is there. The fight, however, remains stuck on the same issue that has stalled it for over a year: weight.
Haney wants the fight at 147 pounds, the welterweight limit where he holds his title. Stevenson's camp has pushed for a 144-pound catchweight. Three pounds does not sound like much, but at this level it is a significant concession for either side.
Haney has not fought since beating Brian Norman Jr. in November 2025 to win the WBO welterweight belt. That is nearly a year of inactivity for a fighter in his prime. The longer he sits, the more the belt loses its shine.
The welterweight division has no shortage of challengers waiting. Richardson Hitchins, Liam Paro, Lewis Crocker, Teofimo Lopez, Jack Catterall, and Arnold Barboza Jr. are all in the mix. But Stevenson is the name that moves the needle, and both fighters know it.
Devin Haney posting Instagram promos about Shakur Stevenson while not fighting anyone is becoming a yearly tradition. At some point, somebody has to meet in the middle.
Here is how I see it. Haney is the champion at 147. He has the belt and the leverage. But he also has not fought in almost a year, and his last fight was Brian Norman Jr., a solid win but not a legacy-defining one. A catchweight at 144 is not going to kill him. It is three pounds. You are 27 years old and undefeated. Take the fight.
Stevenson is just as guilty. If you want the big fights, you have to take them at the weight where the titles are. You cannot demand catchweights forever and then wonder why the superfights never happen.
Both of these guys are too talented to be sitting on the sidelines posting on social media. Make the fight. Figure out the weight in the room, not on the internet.
