Gervonta Davis has floated the idea of fighting Stephen Fulton at lightweight, posting on X: "Yea come to 135 we can meet." The invitation came after Fulton expressed interest in a matchup, replying "Agreed" to what appeared to be an ongoing conversation about potential opponents.

The problem, per Boxing News 24, is whether Fulton can actually make 135 pounds. His recent weight history is a disaster. In December 2025, Fulton came in at 132 for a fight contracted at 130 against O'Shaquie Foster. That bout was originally for Foster's WBC super featherweight title but got reclassified as an interim WBC lightweight title fight because of the miss. Fulton lost a clear decision.

It got worse in July 2026. Fulton agreed to a 133-pound catchweight against Liam Wilson and showed up at 139.5 pounds, more than six pounds over. The fight was canceled entirely.

So when Davis says "come to 135," the question is not whether Fulton wants to be there. It is whether his body will cooperate. A fighter who missed 133 by six and a half pounds four months ago is not an obvious candidate to make lightweight reliably.

Davis has also mentioned George Kambosos Jr. as a potential opponent, so the Fulton invitation may be more social media posturing than serious matchmaking. Still, Tank at 135 against anyone with a pulse would sell, and the boxing world is watching to see which fight materializes first.

REY'S TAKERey Aguirre

This is classic Tank. Float a name on social media, let the internet run wild, and then do whatever he was going to do anyway. I am not convinced Davis is seriously targeting Fulton, and honestly, I am not sure Fulton can make 135 at this point in his career.

The man missed 133 by six and a half pounds. Six and a half. That is not a bad weight cut, that is a different weight class. If you cannot make 133, what makes anyone think 135 is reliable? Fulton is a skilled boxer who is clearly outgrowing these lower divisions, and fighting Tank while your body is falling apart at the scale is a recipe for a bad night.

If this fight actually gets made, I would take Davis by stoppage. Tank hits too hard for a guy who is draining himself to make weight. But I would bet on Kambosos or someone else entirely getting the call before Fulton does.
