Vasiliy Lomachenko Plots Return and Eyes Anthony Cacace for Undisputed at 130
Lomachenko plans a November 20 comeback in Las Vegas with his sights set on the WBA belt at super featherweight.

Vasiliy Lomachenko is coming back, and he already has a target. The former multi-division champion is planning a November 20 return in Las Vegas, per Boxing News, with WBA super featherweight champion Anthony Cacace in his crosshairs as he pursues undisputed status at 130 pounds.
The report, attributed to Lance Pugmire, indicates Lomachenko sees Cacace's WBA belt as the piece he needs in his bid to unify the division. No opponent has been named for the November comeback bout, which figures to serve as a tune-up before any title shot.
Cacace has his own schedule to manage. The Belfast-based champion is set to defend against Nick Ball on December 19 in his hometown. The WBA authorized a voluntary defense before year's end, but after that fight the winner must face mandatory challenger Elnur Samedov.
That queue creates a real obstacle for Lomachenko. Even if he looks sharp in his return, a title shot against Cacace could require a lengthy wait while the WBA's mandatory obligations play out. Samedov's position would need to be resolved before Lomachenko could cut the line.
Lomachenko has not fought since his last outing at 130, and this would mark his latest attempt to add to a legacy that already includes titles at featherweight, super featherweight, and lightweight. A return to 130 suggests he believes the lower weight suits his aging frame better than campaigning at 135, where the division's size and youth have caught up with him.
Lomachenko at 130 makes a lot more sense than Lomachenko at 135 at this point in his career. The speed is still there, the footwork is still elite, and dropping to super featherweight takes him away from the bigger punchers who have given him trouble.
Cacace is a solid champion, but let us be honest: the WBA's mandatory situation is a mess, and Loma's team knows that navigating sanctioning body politics is half the battle. If Cacace beats Ball and then has to deal with Samedov, Lomachenko might be waiting until mid-2027. That is a long time for a fighter in his late 30s.
The smart bet is that this plays out slowly. But a sharp Lomachenko in Las Vegas in November will remind everyone why he is worth the wait.
