Floyd Mayweather Says He Is Open to Conor McGregor Rematch
Floyd Mayweather told the PBD Podcast that he and McGregor may fight again, calling it business.
Floyd Mayweather is leaving the door open for a second fight with Conor McGregor.
Speaking on the PBD Podcast, the retired boxing legend said he and McGregor "may lock up again," per Sherdog. "Actually, I think me and Conor McGregor may lock up again. Yeah, absolutely," Mayweather said.
When asked about the relationship between the two, Mayweather kept it strictly transactional. He said McGregor is not his friend, that he does not need to see him, but when it comes time to do business, "let's do it."
The first fight, held in August 2017, saw Mayweather stop McGregor by TKO in the 10th round to improve his perfect record to 50-0. The bout was a massive commercial success and elevated McGregor's profile beyond MMA. Both fighters reportedly earned nine-figure paydays.
Since then, Mayweather has stayed active in exhibition bouts, facing Logan Paul, Deji, Tenshin Nasukawa, Aaron Chalmers, and John Gotti III twice, among others. McGregor has fought just once since 2021, losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 when he broke his leg.
No date, venue, promotion, or financial terms were discussed for a potential rematch. At 49 years old, Mayweather would likely need an exhibition-friendly promotion to make the fight happen. McGregor, 38, remains under UFC contract, though the specifics of his current deal are unclear.
Look, I am not going to sit here and pretend this fight is close to happening. Floyd is 49 years old and has been doing exhibition laps for years. McGregor has not won a fight since 2020.
But here is the thing: the first one did monster numbers. Both guys know that. And in combat sports, money talks louder than logic.
I do not think the UFC lets McGregor walk to do this again. Dana White has said as much. But stranger things have happened in this sport. Floyd is out here on a podcast basically saying "call me," and McGregor never met a big payday he did not like.
Would anyone buy this fight in 2026? Absolutely. Would it be competitive? Not even a little. But that has never stopped these two from cashing a check. Keep an eye on it, but do not hold your breath.
