Omari Jones Gets Back to Stoppages With Second-Round TKO of Alan Sanchez
Omari Jones improved to 8-0 with a second-round stoppage of veteran Alan Sanchez on DAZN.

Omari Jones ended a streak of three consecutive decision wins by stopping veteran Alan Sanchez in the second round Friday night at Caribe Royale Orlando on the Project Series 2 card, broadcast on DAZN.
The stoppage came at 49 seconds of round two. Jones pressed forward from the opening bell, putting combinations together and forcing Sanchez into a defensive shell. In the second, Sanchez was hurt near the ropes, and Jones poured on sustained offense until referee Christopher Young stepped in.
Jones improved to 8-0 with five knockouts. Sanchez dropped to 24-8-1.
The eight-round junior middleweight bout served as the main event on the card. Jones served in a headlining spot that reflects the promotional confidence behind the young prospect. Decision wins are fine for the record, but stoppages are what get prospects noticed by networks and matchmakers.
At 154 pounds, the junior middleweight division has room for a young talent who can punch and close the show. Jones is building momentum, and the return to finishing fights after three straight trips to the scorecards is a positive sign for his development.
Omari Jones needed that stoppage. Three straight decisions for a prospect is not a crisis, but it starts to raise questions about whether you can get guys out of there. He answered that question Friday night.
Sanchez is a durable veteran with 33 pro fights, so getting him out in two rounds is not nothing. Jones looked sharp, pressed the action, and did not wait for openings. He created them.
At 8-0, Jones is still in the building phase. The competition will get stiffer, and we will learn more about him when he faces someone who can punch back. But for now, he is doing what prospects are supposed to do: winning and finishing. Keep an eye on this kid at 154.
