Real American Freestyle has signed a five-year deal with Abu Dhabi to bring its wrestling events to the Etihad Arena, starting with a debut card on November 14 that features former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev in the headline spot and fellow UFC star Arman Tsarukyan also confirmed to compete.

The partnership, announced Sunday, was brokered through Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism. H.E. Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, said the deal reflects the emirate's "ambition to bring more high-profile sporting properties" to the region, per MMA Mania. The goal is to make RAF Abu Dhabi "a fixture on our sporting calendar."

The November 14 date is notable. It falls on the same night as UFC 334 at Madison Square Garden, where Ciryl Gane defends the heavyweight title against Josh Hokit and Amanda Nunes faces Kayla Harrison. Whether RAF intentionally counter-programmed the UFC's marquee event or simply landed on the same Saturday is unclear, but the optics are hard to miss.

Chimaev, who departed the UFC earlier this year, brings significant name recognition in the Middle East. Tsarukyan, fresh off a devastating elbow knockout of Mauricio Ruffy in the UFC 331 co-main event last weekend, adds another layer of crossover appeal. Both fighters built their MMA careers on wrestling credentials, making the transition to a freestyle format a natural fit.

RAF has now staged thirteen events in roughly eighteen months, with RAF 14 set for October 3 in Las Vegas. The Abu Dhabi expansion marks the promotion's most ambitious international play yet and signals that combat sports wrestling is attracting the kind of institutional money that used to flow exclusively to MMA and boxing.

REY'S TAKERey Aguirre

A five-year deal with Abu Dhabi is the moment RAF stopped being a fun side project. That is government money and a permanent slot on a sporting calendar. Thirteen events in eighteen months and now an international anchor. Wrestling as a combat sport product is real now.

The November 14 date is not an accident, whatever anyone says. That is UFC 334 night at the Garden with Gane and Nunes-Harrison. Running Chimaev, who walked out of the UFC this year, on the same Saturday in a market where he is huge is a shot across the bow. Dana will pretend not to notice. He will notice.

Chimaev and Tsarukyan are perfect for this. Both built on wrestling, both massive names in the Middle East. My only concern is Arman. He is supposedly next for a lightweight title shot and he is scheduling wrestling matches. Great for RAF, risky for his UFC timeline. One tweak on the mat and the belt waits again.
