Eddie Hearn Rips Dana White Over Fury vs Joshua Involvement

Hearn says White has no contractual role in the December 11 fight and calls him a "silly soppy" for trying.

Eddie Hearn is not letting Dana White anywhere near the Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua fight, and he is not being polite about it.

The Matchroom promoter fired back after Netflix released a press statement indicating that The Ring magazine and White would collaborate in promoting the December 11 card at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Hearn says the contract explicitly prevents that from happening.

"We stand by our contract. He cannot be involved in the fight. There's a contract that says that," Hearn said. He added that Netflix's language about White's participation would not go unchallenged. "There's loads of battles to come on that because that ain't happening either."

Hearn then turned personal. "You really got them to include your name in the press release? You silly soppy t-t," he said, per LowKick MMA. "You've lost, mate. You've lost. You did everything you can to bring the fight to America and rob the British fight fans of the fight."

The jab about Madison Square Garden was pointed. "You said it was at MSG, you've lost there and you'll lose here as well," Hearn continued.

Hearn stated he plans to contact Netflix directly to enforce the contractual language before the September 30 press conference, where both Fury and Joshua are expected to appear together for the first time.

The fight itself is set. The backstage politics are just getting started.

REY'S TAKERey Aguirre

This is the side of boxing I live for. The fight is not even close to happening and the promoters are already throwing haymakers at each other in the press.

Hearn is right on the contract point. If the deal says White cannot be involved, then White cannot be involved. Sneaking your name into a Netflix press release is a power move, but it is also the kind of thing that gets you dragged into arbitration. Dana has been trying to pull this fight to America from day one, and Hearn clearly views this as a last-ditch play.

The "you've lost, mate" line is going to live forever in boxing promotion history. Hearn knows that keeping this fight in Cardiff is a win for British fans and for his leverage. White getting frozen out of the biggest heavyweight fight of the year has to sting, especially when he just launched Zuffa Boxing.
